PAX - update

As 2012 moves forward, PAX - which so far has been merely an idea, subjected to meetings, conferences and rewritings - is fundraising to prepare for a pilot.

Phase One began in 2010, with a meeting at Google's London headquarters attended by people with experience in the UN, government, NGOs, the media and academia. They agreed that PAX could potentially provide useful warning information to people working in conflict prevention.  Google then funded a Feasibility Study.

Governments are now beginning to gather and analyse online data to give warning of wars. PAX's proposal of an independent, open service, with uploads subjected to constant checking by a worldwide community of evaluators, presents a potentially valuable complement to these efforts.

We'll keep updating on progress as we work towards a pilot.
